“Au pair” is an expression of French origin that literally means “on equal terms” or “as equals.” In the context of the program, it describes a cultural exchange experience in which a young person lives with a host family in another country and primarily helps with childcare.

An au pair is a young person who lives with a host family in another country and primarily helps with childcare. In return, they receive accommodation, meals, and a weekly stipend, as well as the opportunity to experience cultural exchange.

In practice, the program concept includes:

• Living in the host family’s home

• Having responsibilities related to the children, such as their routines, simple meals, dropping off/picking up, and playing

• Having access to an educational allowance of up to US$500, according to the program rules

• Participating in a cultural exchange and learning about American daily life, including traditions and dates such as Thanksgiving and the 4th of July, plus familiar U.S. references like Target and Crumbl Cookies.

To become an au pair with the program in the United States, you must be between 18 and 26 years old. We can accept candidates up to 26 years and 3 months old, giving you time to finish the process and travel while you’re still 26, in line with the program rules.
